Hold the cartridge. Move it over the record. Release into a groove.
Lantern Glow
Rich pumpkin orange, with the warmth of a lantern on the doorstep.
Preparing the deck preview…
You were only going to play one more record.
The front door has clicked shut. There is a lantern on the step, a bowl with a few sweets left in it, and a record waiting beside the deck. Outside, the evening has turned that particular shade of October. Inside, there is still time for Side A.
The Witching Hour brings that evening into seven Digital Vinyl colours. Warm wax cream, pumpkin orange, sweet-shop red and violet. A black with a little plum hiding in it. Two greens, one leafy, one almost a whisper.
There is a soundtrack this time, too. Lift the tonearm on The Witching Hour, then try the seven colours while the music keeps going. Find the shade that belongs to your evening.
A little light. A little mischief.
Candlelight starts with the warm cream of a candle burned low. Lantern Glow turns up the orange: the colour you notice halfway down a dark street. Toffee Apple follows in deep berry red, just sweet enough.
Velvet Spell is the violet at the heart of the collection. Black Cat takes it almost to black, keeping a plum undertone for the light to find. Witch’s Garden brings in mossy yellow-green, while Ghost Story leaves us with a pale, chalky green.
The house has gone quiet.
The record hasn’t.
Seven shades, two finishes.
Candlelight, Black Cat and Ghost Story have an opaque finish. Lantern Glow, Toffee Apple, Velvet Spell and Witch’s Garden are translucent, letting the surface beneath become part of their appearance.
Choose a shade above and see which one catches your eye. The colour sets a mood; the music is yours. A favourite album you know backwards, a late-night mix, or something you have been saving for an uninterrupted listen.
Keep it after midnight.
Riviera followed the sea. Strawberry Fields followed a berry from the stem to the walk home. The Witching Hour waits until the lights go down.
Halloween gave these colours their names. There is no reason to put them away when the lanterns come in.
Choose your shade.
Stay for the other side.
